SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation sponsors the Rural Doctor Training Programme in Nanjiang county in Bazhong, Sichuan
The SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation endeavours to help the underprivileged and give back to society. To support the country’s poverty alleviation measures, it donated RMB1.5 million to the Hong Kong Poverty Alleviation Association earlier for the Rural Doctor Training Programme in Nanjiang county, in Bazhong, Sichuan, to improve local medical services. The training programme was recently completed with great success.
The aim of the training programme was to enhance the capabilities of rural doctors in Nanjiang county so that local residents can enjoy quality medical services. The training programme, organized by the Nanjiang County Health Bureau, provided five terms of training courses from 2018 to 2020 for about 500 rural doctors in the county. The courses covered both theoretical knowledge and practical trainings, including basic medical knowledge, basic public health knowledge, treatment of common diseases in rural villages, first-aid knowledge and the country’s poverty alleviation measures in the healthcare sector. Rural doctors who passed the programme's assessment would be qualified for the village's healthcare service.
SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation Executive Director Amy Kwok was pleased that the programme was well-received and that the training programme helped improve health and medical services in Nanjiang county, Bazhong, which was once a key poverty alleviation area of the country, and provide timely diagnostic services for local residents. She hoped the trained rural doctors would put their knowledge into practice to maximize the benefits of the programme and contribute to the country.
Since its establishment nearly two decades ago, the SHKP-Kwoks' Foundation has set up and sponsored more than 70 charity projects, benefitting over 60,000 people from over 25 provinces and cities across the country.
