SHKP Scholarships Help Children of Staff Pursue Further Studies

SHKP scholarships help children of staff pursue further studies

The SHKP Group Undergraduate Scholarship, established by Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP), has for 10 consecutive years provided financial assistance to children of staff to pursue higher education. This year, scholarships were awarded to nine employees’ children, who are studying at institutions including The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The programme helps relieve the financial burden on staff and allows their children to focus on their studies.

SHKP Chairman and Managing Director Raymond Kwok recently met the scholarship recipients and their parents to share some of his life experiences and his hopes for them. He said, “SHKP believes education is the key to holistic development, and continuous improvement is an important part of our corporate culture. This year’s awardees are studying a diverse range of subjects at various tertiary institutions. I hope they will make good use of the different learning opportunities and strive for the best.” Raymond Kwok also encouraged the staff to care for and communicate with their children, and hoped the children can give back to society in the future.

The awardees thanked SHKP for its support and encouragement, and for relieving the financial burden on their families and for letting them better concentrate on their studies and enjoy university life. To meet daily expenses, some awardees used to work part-time. The SHKP Group Undergraduate Scholarship has provided them with financial peace of mind. They promised to seize every opportunity to empower themselves and put forth their best efforts in their studies and life.

SHKP places great emphasis on nurturing talent and cares about its employees and their families. To this end, the SHKP Group Undergraduate Scholarship was established in 2010, which to date has subsidized over 90 children of staff to pursue a full-time first degree programme. Scholarship recipients have majored in medicine, engineering, law, economics and finance, and journalism, as well as other disciplines at The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and other institutions.
