Gold award winner in the Property Management (Commercial & Industrial) category – Uptown Plaza

Managed by Kai Shing, Uptown Plaza won the highest honour in the Property Management (Commercial & Industrial) category. Uptown Plaza introduced a wide range of energy-saving and waste-reduction measures to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency, including removing the spotlights from outdoor advertising signboards and enhancing the energy efficiency of its chiller plant, thus reducing energy consumption by over 9%. It also launched a recycling programme to encourage its tenants to reduce the consumption of renovation materials, and installed recycling machines, collecting more than 7,000 plastic bottles in three months.

In recognition of Uptown Plaza’s dedication to promoting green vegetarian food and green living, its Green Manager won the first Outstanding Green Achiever award at the HKAEE.

Silver award winner in the Property Management (Residential) category – YOHO Midtown

YOHO Midtown, managed by Kai Shing, worked closely with its Owners’ Committee and other community organizations to promote green living to households under the theme ‘Environmental to accompany, to share, to innovate’. The residential estate set up Three-in-one Recycling Cum Garbage Container rubbish bins and implemented a Green Audit Scheme, which provides a one-stop audit service to assess residents’ performance in categories such as food waste, energy use and carbon emissions, and provides recommendations for improvement. In addition, the residential estate collects rainwater and recycling pool water for cleaning, making the best use of water resources.

Other awards and recognition

In addition to the gold and silver awards received, Kai Shing, Hong Yip and Chun Fai won a number of Certificates of Merit. Hong Yip received one for making use of the Internet of Things technology in different residential estates and shopping malls to reduce power consumption and manpower, extending energy saving to daily property management work. Chun Fai received a Certificate of Merit for its outstanding management and green measures at TSWTL33 in Tin Shui Wai, an integrated residential development under construction.
The HKAEE, organized by the Environmental Campaign Committee, the Environmental Protection Department and nine other organizations, is an annual event, which has been held for 12 consecutive years. Its aim is to encourage and evaluate organizations on how effectively they implement environmental management, and to recognize those that achieve excellent performance.
