Landmark North community vaccination centre commences operation

SHKP provides the venue for free to boost vaccine uptake

Vaccination against COVID-19 reduces the risk of severe illness and death and is a key to combating the pandemic. The community vaccination centre (CVC) at Landmark North, the second venue provided for free by Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) for this purpose, commenced operation today. Like the CVC at Millennium City 5, the first venue lent by SHKP, the Landmark North CVC covers approximately 10,000 square feet. Both centres can vaccinate 1,000 to 1,500 people a day.

Lo King-wai, General Manager (Office Leasing) of Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency, said: “SHKP is committed to joining hands with various parties to fight the virus and has provided assistance in many ways. Data reveals that vaccination is the most effective way to reduce the risk of seriously illness and death. SHKP has therefore provided space in Sheung Shui and Kwun Tong for free to set up community vaccination centres for the convenience of the public, particularly the elderly and children. Both venues are conveniently located with good transport networks. We hope that the two centres will attract more people in North District and Kwun Tong to get the jab, which will help Hong Kong overcome the pandemic and bring the city back to normality as soon as possible.”

Located in the office portion of the development, the CVC, on the 17th floor of Landmark North is just a one-minute walk from MTR Sheung Shui Station. It is open daily from 9am to 6pm and provides BioNTech vaccinations for people aged 12 or above. Before the centre comes into operation, residents of North District who wanted to get the vaccine had to go to Wo Hing Playground, an outdoor venue in Fanling.

Soon after the Landmark North CVC opened this morning, a number of people, including older and younger residents, went there to get vaccinated. Auntie Tam came to receive the third dose of the vaccine. She noted that the centre in Landmark North is very comfortable and said it was good that people no longer had to get the jab outdoors. Student Chan said Landmark North is very convenient and believed that this would help draw more young people to get vaccinated.

The Millennium City 5 CVC, which adjoins the APM mall, started operating on 11 March. It provides the Sinovac vaccine to children and teenagers aged 3 to 17 and people aged 60 or above. Members of the public can go to the CVC by taking a designated lift in the office lobby of Millennium City 5.  The office lobby can be accessed via the second floor of APM, which is directly connected to MTR Kwun Tong Station.

SHKP has gone all out to help the government combat the pandemic. Apart from providing space at its commercial premises for community vaccination free of charge, the Group has lent for free two sites – a plot of land in Tam Mi, Yuen Long, and the site of the former San Tin Shopping City – to the government for building temporary isolation and treatment facilities. The Group also lent the government another parcel of land in San Tin to establish a provisional cargo transfer yard and arranged the transformation of United Court, a transitional housing project in Tung Tau, Yuen Long, into a temporary isolation and treatment facility. The aggregate area of the four sites is almost two million square feet. Furthermore, the Group  donated materials worth more than HK$15 million to support frontline anti-pandemic workers, the underprivileged and the Group’s employees. It also participated in the Community Isolation Facility Hotel Scheme, providing rooms in two hotels for isolation purposes.
