The award ceremony for the third batch of recipients of the Building Homes with Heart Scholarship Programme was recently held, with 12 outstanding students from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) receiving scholarships.
The Building Homes with Heart Scholarship Programme, established in 2022, aims to support exceptional PolyU students who face financial challenges and are studying construction, real estate or engineering-related disciplines. Including this round, the programme has awarded a total of 31 scholarships with funding exceeding HK$1 million.
At the ceremony, SHKP-Kwoks’ Foundation Director Thomas Kwok and SHKP-Kwoks’ Foundation Executive Director Amy Kwok presented the scholarships to the students. SHKP Executive Director Adam Kwok, PolyU Vice President (Student and Global Affairs) Professor Ben Young, SHKP Executive Director Robert Chan, PolyU Associate Dean of the Faculty of Construction and Environment Professor Linda Xiao and PolyU Interim Dean of Students Professor Horace Mui also attended.
SHKP-Kwoks’ Foundation Director Thomas Kwok said: “Over the years, SHKP has upheld the belief of ‘Building Homes with Heart,’ and helped move society forward by developing many iconic landmarks. We are excited to continue working with PolyU to support talented students through this scholarship programme, supporting the next generation in the industry.”
PolyU Vice President (Student and Global Affairs) Professor Ben Young stated: “Sun Hung Kai Properties is one of the major developers in Hong Kong and has long been committed to nurturing young talent. Since its founding, PolyU has served as a cradle for construction professionals, producing countless outstanding graduates who have made significant contributions to Hong Kong’s construction industry and urban development.”
During the ceremony, SHKP Executive Director Robert Chan, himself a PolyU graduate, shared the spirit and development journey of SHKP’s Building Homes with Heart initiative with the students, encouraging them to prepare for future challenges. Before the ceremony, students visited SHKP’s mega integrated development in Sai Sha, where they gained insights into how SHKP embodies its belief in “Building Homes with Heart” to create a vibrant new community that offers diverse experiences, promoting the well-being of residents and making it an ideal place for multi-generational families.
