Sun Hung Kai Properties title sponsors The Community Chest Corporate Challenge 2026
Record-high donations of over HK$6.89 million
Title-sponsored for the first time by Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP), The Community Chest Sun Hung Kai Properties Corporate Challenge 2026 – the first fundraising event of the year organised by The Community Chest (the Chest) – was successfully held today at Sai Kung Country Parks in Pak Tam Chung.
This year’s event saw a record turnout, bringing together 1,077 runners from 63 organisations, forming 131 teams to compete in the half marathon and 10K races, the largest number of participating organisations to date. In addition, 21 organisations made generous donations in support of the event. Together, participants and donors raised over HK$6.89 million, the highest amount ever recorded for this event. Of this, HK$3.5 million came from SHKP’s title sponsorship.
The starting ceremony was officiated by Mr Thomas Kwok and Mr Carmelo Lee, Co-Chairmen of The Community Chest Sun Hung Kai Properties Corporate Challenge Organizing Committee, alongside SHKP Project Director Mr Dominic Kwok, Committee Members Mr Nathan Lee and Mr Jason Tan.
Co-Chairman of the Organising Committee and SHKP-Kwoks’ Foundation Director Mr Thomas Kwok said: “SHKP is committed to promoting the spirit of ‘Sports for Charity’ and has long supported various charitable sporting events. We are honoured to be the title sponsor of The Community Chest Corporate Challenge this year, and we sincerely thank all the organisations and runners for their participation and support. All donations raised today will go directly to member agencies funded by the Chest, without any deduction for administrative expenses, to provide effective social welfare services for those in need.”
Other notable supporters included Co-Chairman of the Organising Committee Dr Edward Cheung, SHKP Executive Director Mr Mike Wong and SHKP Project Director Mr Dominic Kwok, who took on the challenge of the half marathon and 10K races respectively.
The Chest expressed its deep gratitude to SHKP for its support. Since the launch of The Community Chest Corporate Challenge in 1995, SHKP has been a longstanding partner. In the past two years, Mr Thomas Kwok and the Sun Hung Kai Properties Charitable Fund jointly donated HK$3.5 million annually and sponsored event expenses, while Royal Hotels, a subsidiary of SHKP, provided refreshments for runners. This year, SHKP once again pledged HK$3.5 million as the title sponsorship for the event. The Chest also extended its thanks to Woo Kwan Lee & Lo, Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings Limited, and the Athletics Veterans of Hong Kong, the event co-organiser, for their valuable support.
