Case Study - Supporting the Youth on Career Paths in Hong Kong and the Mainland
SHKP provides opportunities for the next generation, especially amid an economy affected by the pandemic, as was the case in this reporting year. We recruited 88 students and graduates in total to join the programmes organized by SHKP and its subsidiaries.
SHKP Summer Internship Programme
- 22 college students were recruited for our two-month summer internship, they were assigned to various departments
- To enhance their understanding of the work requirements and SHKP’s businesses, they were given opportunity to participate in workshops and visit various projects under SHKP
- Interns with excellent performance would have the opportunity to join our team as management trainees
Sanfield Summer Internship Programme
- Sanfield recruited 43 students majoring in construction engineering, civil engineering, building services engineering, quantity surveying and related fields
- To demonstrate the importance of integrating ESG into construction projects, the 5G ‘SmartWorks’ system, which was jointly developed with SmarTone to improve building safety and operational efficiency, was introduced
- Site visit to Wetland Seasons Park project was arranged, in which the project director explained how SHKP integrates ESG into the designs and minimizes potential environmental impact with the strict construction requirements
Sanfield 3-4-year Apprenticeship Training Scheme
- Sanfield continues to co-host a three to four-year Apprenticeship Training Scheme with the Construction Industry Council and the Vocational Training Council
- Students who have completed the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) or above can pursue higher diploma programmes with full funding and are offered on-the-job training
- On completing their courses, apprentices may be promoted to junior management and enjoy a career in the construction sector
SHKP Management Trainee Programme
We recruited nine management trainees in Hong Kong and the mainland. Throughout the course of the three-year programme, the trainees will enjoy diverse learning opportunities and career development support
SHKP Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme
- SHKP supports the government’s Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme by offering job opportunities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA)
- Among real estate developers, the Group has the largest number of first-batch recruits in the scheme. We selected 15 graduates from more than 250 applicants from leading local, mainland and overseas universities
- The graduates worked in Guangzhou or Zhongshan after completing orientation training to understand the culture and our business in Hong Kong
- Experienced GBA-based staff served as mentors, helping the newcomers adapt to our life and work culture
