Two SHKP flagship malls receive honours at the 2019 ICSC China Shopping Centre and Retailer Awards


Shanghai IFC mall and Hong Kong’s Tai Po Mega Mall win silver in the Marketing category

Developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP), the Shanghai IFC mall and the Tai Po Mega Mall in Hong Kong received three silver awards in the Marketing category of the 2019 ICSC China Shopping Centre and Retailer Awards on 18 June.

The Shanghai IFC mall won silver in two categories - Emerging Technology and Sales Promotions/ Events – for its Mickey 90th Anniversary Starry Christmas event. Tai Po Mega Mall received silver in the Marketing category for its Junior Milk Tea Master Career Training programme, which promotes local culture and community engagement. 

Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency Executive Director Maureen Fung said, “Adhering to SHKP’s belief in Building Homes with Heart, the Shanghai IFC mall and Tai Po Mega Mall have organized many exciting, trendy promotional events to provide a premium shopping experience. Both malls won silver in the Marketing category of the 2019 ICSC China Shopping Centre and Retailer Awards. In the future SHKP will continue to enhance the shopping environment to provide an ever better customer experience.”

The 2019 ICSC China Shopping Centre Awards were organized by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the industry’s most prestigious international retail real estate association. This year’s programme was designed to recognize excellence, innovation and creativity in the country’s retail real estate industry, and honour outstanding achievements in marketing, social media, and design and development.

2018 was the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse and the Shanghai IFC mall held a Mickey 90th Anniversary Starry Christmas event, which turned the mall into a stunning Mickey Christmas wonderland. In addition to six 3D Mickey statues and a five-metre 3D LED screen playing classic Mickey Mouse video footage dating back as early as 1928, the mall also had a Mickey Memorial Studio, a Mickey Photo-Taking Booth and a Mickey 90th Anniversary Pop Up Art Store. There were also interactive activities, including a Mickey Immersive Booth and a Mickey AR Hunting Game, which used AR technology to create special memories for customers. Receiving wide acclaim from the panel of judges, the event won a silver award in the Emerging Technology and Sales Promotions and Events categories.

The Tai Po Mega Mall, a landmark shopping mall in northeast New Territories, Hong Kong, organizes a variety of culture promotion events for the community. The mall’s Junior Milk Tea Master Career Training programme offered career support for young people and helped them unleash their potential. Under the guidance of professionals, the participants had a taste of setting up their own business and ran a charity milk tea shop. This brand new programme received wide recognition and earned a silver award in the Marketing category of the 2019 ICSC China Shopping Centre and Retailer Awards.
