Go! Baby Go! – Vertical Run Competition
Race to ICC-100 Craze Sweeps the City
Babies and Parents take part in Vertical Run

2013-10-16

Tsuen Wan Plaza held a Go! Baby Go! – Vertical Run on 13 October in preparation for the Race to ICC-100 – SHKP Vertical Run for the Chest (Race to ICC-100) organized by Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP).  A group of adorable babies ranging from 18 to 24 months old got dressed in specially-designed sportswear and joined a mini vertical run with their parents, helping to develop their sports talent.

Little athletes challenge the Vertical Run

A total of 30 teams of babies and parents joined the race, bringing the number of participants to one hundred.  The little athletes were divided into six groups with their parents and the fastest baby in each group got a Speedy Baby award.  The judges also picked the three little athletes with the best outfits for Best Sports Look awards.  Event highlights and photos can be seen on the Race to ICC-100 Facebook fan-page (www.facebook.com/VerticalRunHK).

Stair-climbing as a healthy parent-child activity

International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and guest judge Maggie Yu said, stair-climbing is a healthy aerobic exercise that can strengthen a baby’s heart and lung functions, promote blood circulation and body coordination.  Parents can walk a few flights of stairs with their babies and help enhance the parent-child relationship.  Parents in Hong Kong are often busy with work, but stair-climbing doesn’t require anything special and can improve physical fitness.  It’s a time-saving and efficient, healthy exercise for parents and children.

Engaging the city with stair-climbing and flash mob events

The Race to ICC-100 will be held on 1 December at Hong Kong’s tallest building International Commerce Centre (ICC) and entries are being accepted until 15 November.  All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Community Chest for child and youth services.  Interested parties can download application forms from the official web site (www.verticalrunhk.com) or apply online.  See the official web site for more details.

SHKP will stage various activities in its shopping malls to promote the healthy trend of stair-climbing, including competitions for babies and pets, a flash mob cheerleading performance and giving out information about healthy living.  Interested parties can download the Race to ICC-100 mobile phone app, visit www.verticalrunhk.com or www.facebook.com/VerticalRunHK or visit any SHKP shopping mall for details of the Race.
