Eighth SHKP Climbathon to promote social integration

2011-10-11

Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) and the Hong Chi Association staged their eighth annual Climbathon up Central Plaza to raise funds to promote the rehabilitation and education of the mentally ill and social integration.

SHKP again made Central Plaza available for contestants to scale the 1,688-step tower in a relay race, and sponsored five staff paired with two Hong Chi students to compete in the run.  The funds raised will go to training the less fortunate.  The contestants in this year’s Climbathon showed teamwork and social integration in the caring spirit of the event.

SHKP believes in good corporate citizenship and contributes to society by providing assistance to the needy.  Its multi-faceted efforts to work for a harmonious community earned it a Caring Company designation for the ninth year running, and its long-term support for the Community Chest earned it President’s and Top Donor awards.  The company also encourages its staff to participate in charity and fund-raising events like the Hong Chi Climbathon for the mentally ill and the Community Chest’s run up Two IFC Charity Race and Corporate Challenge, as well as other charity walks.  These events and more build team spirit among employees and benefit worthy charitable causes.
