SHKP malls win honours in ICSC Asia Pacific Shopping Centre Awards
A new addition to worldwide recognitions for the company’s exceptional design and creative marketing strategies

2017-10-25

Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) received multiple honours at the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) Asia Pacific Shopping Centre Awards, representing a new round of applause after the company won acclaim at ICSC China Shopping Centre Awards earlier this year. Parc Central in Guangzhou won gold in the New Developments category while Shanghai IFC Mall took silver for Emerging Digital Technology.  East Point City in Tseung Kwan O also captured a silver award for Integrated Digital Campaigns, making it the only Hong Kong mall to be commended in this category. The new acclaim from the contest acknowledges the outstanding design of SHKP malls as well as their creative marketing strategies and world-class service.

Parc Central in Guangzhou wins gold for New Developments

Parc Central won a gold award in the New Developments category for its futuristic, imaginative concept and landscaping. Designed by noted international architects Benoy, Parc Central resembles a pair of bouncing fish. The double-fish design is particularly eye-catching on the busy Tianhe Road which delivers a strong commercial flavour and gives the mall a lively modern image. Street-level shops have tall, wide shopfronts and double-glazed display windows. An open activity space runs through the interior, and a spiral design of the sunken garden makes the layering of different levels more prominent.

Situated at the centre of Tianhe district, Parc Central offers total transport convenience and easy accessibility. 60% of Parc Central is covered by greenery with a verdant central plaza of more than 200,000 square feet, plus a host of special features that make it an urban oasis. The mall showcases a perfect integration of people, architecture, the surroundings and nature, which epitomizes sustainable development and makes Parc Central a leading business landmark in Guangzhou. Judges of the competition were impressed by its unique design and extensive greenery, a testament to the success of its shopping-in-the-park concept.

Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency General Manager (Leasing) Henry Lam said: “Parc Central offers a host of international brands along with a variety of restaurants and leisure attractions. It also features a new LUXE cinema in Southern China, a duplex Starbucks coffee store, and an outlet of ABC Cooking Studio – a popular Japanese cuisine cooking studio which is new to Guangzhou. In addition to an experience centre of electric car maker Tesla, Parc Central will see Porsche’s first city-based exhibition hall in Asia by the end of 2017. The mall has introduced more than 120 renowned brands, some of which are newcomers to the city. We are proud that the comfortable environment and the provision of unique experience have rapidly made Parc Central a shopping paradise for Guangzhou citizens.”

Shanghai IFC Mall enriches shopping experience with new technology

Shanghai IFC Mall was praised for its perfect combination of traditional events and emerging technology. Such achievement won it gold in the Emerging Digital Technology category at ICSC China Shopping Centre Awards in April, followed by silver at ICSC Asia Pacific Shopping Centre Awards. Shanghai IFC Mall is the first mainland shopping centre that has earned gold and silver in the same category at different ICSC programmes this year. The double honours embody its position as a landmark shopping centre in China and Asia Pacific, backed by its strong capability and worldwide recognitions.

SHKP (China) Executive Director Maureen Fung said: “Shanghai IFC Mall has put SHKP’s belief in Building Homes with Heart into practice, which is marked by its continuous effort to bring premium shopping experience to prestigious customers who are seeking a refined lifestyle. With the development of new technology and the need to serve more young elites, Shanghai IFC Mall has integrated augmented reality, virtual reality, iBeacon technology and H5 into its large-scale promotional events so shoppers are able to embrace the newest interactive technology while indulging in a graceful shopping environment. The mall delivered encouraging performance this year with five honours. In addition to two ICSC awards for Emerging Technology, Shanghai IFC Mall also earned recognitions in Greater China and Asia Pacific in 2017 for its Tsum Tsum Sparkling Christmas Promotion, including gold in the strategic marketing of shopping mall category at the Disney annual award and two accolades at the PR Awards by Marketing magazine. We will continue to focus on serving trendy customers who are on the lookout for high-end offerings and bringing them more dynamic shopping experience with our artistic flair and professional perspective.”

East Point City commended again for 3D interactive goldfish installation

Inspired by the belief that goldfish symbolizes fortune and good luck, East Point City presented the 3D Goldfish Alive digital installation during Chinese New Year. The installation converted children’s drawings of goldfish into 3D animations, which were projected on giant facade to create scenes of goldfish swimming in an aquarium. Renowned Japanese artist Riusuke Fukahori presented his lifelike three-dimensional resin paintings of goldfish. The programme received extensive media coverage and helped drive the performance of East Point City, which registered year-on-year increases of 8% in visitor traffic and 7% in turnover. The integrated digital campaign won East Point City silver from ICSC this year, making it the only Hong Kong mall to receive an honour in this category. This is the fifth consecutive year that East Point City receives an accolade from ICSC, showing their continued recognitions of the mall’s efforts.

Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency General Manager (Leasing) Fiona Chung said: “It is heartening that East Point City was recognized again in the ICSC Asia Pacific Shopping Centre Awards. Our innovative and inspirational marketing event employed 3D virtual reality technology, showcasing the mall’s sensitivity to market trends. We are pleased to see that our effective application of new technology is acknowledged by the industry. We will continue to take advantage of different technologies to unlock our creativity and provide customers with unconventional experience and fun.”
