Infusing daily life with the pleasure of reading

Electronic devices are indispensable in today’s high-tech world and Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited’s SHKP Reading Club is riding on the technology trend in its mission to promote reading enjoyment with its breakthrough linepaper multi-media platform. The platform leverages digital and traditional communication channels to lead people, especially the young, into the world of reading with lifestyle themes and interactive content.

The free linepaper ( platform produced and published by Roundtable with SHKP Reading Club sponsorship went live today (13 July) with guests at the debut ceremony including linepaper advisors: The Education University of Hong Kong Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Lui Tai-lok and The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong Executive Director Lilian Law, sampling what linepaper has to offer. Embracing both “online” and “paper”, linepaper brings an interactive reading experience to all through offering seamless online and offline integration, and provides rich content with regular updates in an easy-to-read format available anytime, anywhere.

“I truly believe that reading is a one of the greatest pleasures in life.  It builds knowledge, deepens thinking and widens perspectives, but it’s difficult to promote reading amid the plethora of online activities these days. I hope this platform will popularize reading among the young generation,” said SHKP Chairman and Managing Director Raymond Kwok.

linepaper will offer regular lifestyle features exploring a variety of reading perspectives and recommended books from Hong Kong and worldwide in interactive, easy-to-read formats, plus exclusive interviews with writers, scholars and others offering their opinions and stories about writing and reading. There will additionally be an English Corner where interesting English works and exclusive interviews with native-language writers will spread appreciation of English reading. The linepaper website and mobile app will have regular uploads of exciting content including news about reading and publishing and articles by noted authors and columnists, as well as multi-media content like audio books, videos and more delivering a comprehensive reading experience and enlarging people’s reading spectrum; especially for students and the young.

In July, linepaper has a Books in the Future theme including an interview with Google ebook experts about the integration of text, design and technology, and interesting infographic plotting evolution of books and reading trends in different countries. Another piece features Leung For-hing, author of Ah Wing, the Secret Agent series that is popular with teens describing how his playful writing helps the younger generation develop better reading habits.
