SHKP malls score big at ICSC China Shopping Centre Awards

2017-04-10

Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) malls won a number of honours for special consumer appeal in the 2017 ICSC China Shopping Centre Awards given by the International Council of Shopping Centers. Gold medals went to Shanghai IFC Mall for Emerging Technology and to Parc Central in Guangzhou for New Developments, while IAPM in Shanghai, IGC in Guangzhou and Landmark North in Hong Kong all won silver in different categories. The awards are the latest proof of the appeal that the design, environment, service and promotions in the developer’s malls have for shoppers and the industry.

Shanghai malls engage with interactive technologies

Shanghai IFC Mall and IAPM both won for Emerging Technology. Shanghai IFC Mall won gold for a high-tech promotion last year that immersed shoppers in a trailblazing interactive shopping environment using augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), iBeacon and H5 technologies, helping the mall stand out from the crowd to impress the international judges. IAPM won silver for integrating an array of new media like AR and VR games and smart parking to capture the iGeneration.

SHKP (China) Director Maureen Fung said: “Shanghai IFC Mall and IAPM have always had trendy, creative promotions in the Building Homes with Heart spirit. They went further and integrated new technology with traditional marketing to create premium malls with diverse offerings, and that’s what these awards recognize.”

Gold for green design at Guangzhou Parc Central

New Developments awards went to two Guangzhou malls.  Gold winner Parc Central has a unique double-fish design by noted architects Benoy, which impressed the judges.  The new city landmark offers an airy space connected by pathways and convenient transportation in the heart of Tianhe district.  60% of Parc Central is covered by greenery with a verdant central plaza of more than 200,000 square feet, plus a host of special features that make it an urban oasis.  Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency General Manager (Leasing) Henry Lam said: “A procession of international chains are taking up space in Parc Central, some for the first time in Guangzhou.  The mall also has many restaurants and leisure attraction offering new excitement.”

Crystal exterior makes IGC glitter

IGC mall in Tianhui Plaza won silver for its multi-faceted exterior resembling a fine diamond that lets the sun stream in and blend with the interior lights for a translucent aura, making shopping or dining a delight. Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency Deputy General Manager (Leasing) Evelyn Suen said: “IGC has enchanted shoppers since it opened with up-scale shops, an avant-garde exterior and premium service. This award was bestowed by industry peers and shoppers, so IGC will continue offering visitors the best in shopping and entertainment.”

Landmark North combines art and sport

Landmark North in Hong Kong won silver in Traditional Marketing for its 2016 Art of World Sports exhibition of 27 collages or paintings by European Olympian artists plus a valuable collection of 30 table tennis paddles autographed by top players. Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency General Manager (Leasing) Fiona Chung said: “Landmark North constantly stimulates and surprises shoppers with innovative promotions. We’ll continue keeping things fresh with more creative ideas online and off.”

The annual ICSC China Shopping Centre Awards are a big event in greater China recognizing outstanding accomplishments and innovation in sales and marketing, the use of technology and new developments. Malls considered for Traditional Marketing and Emerging Technology awards are assessed for sales and marketing targets, efficacy and level of innovation, while the New Developments category focuses on sustainable design, innovation and the use of space.
