Sun Hung Kai Properties encourages staff in charity sports for balanced lifestyle

2017-03-30

Employees of Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) recently posted good results in a number of charity sporting events, exercising for good as the company promotes healthy, sustainable living and mental and physical well-being among staff. The events included The 25th Anniversary Hike for Hospice, WWF’s Run for Change 2017 and the UNICEF Charity Run.

Members of the SHKP teams are drawn from different departments including Project Management, Construction and Leasing. Learning through sports is part of the company culture and the teams had the benefit of professional training. Member David Lau was impressed by the team spirit, saying that weekly practices with colleagues from different departments and levels have led to stronger bonds and greater understanding.

SHKP teams won medals in all three competitions. Member Kwan Yip-ho enjoyed the experience and said it was rewarding to help people in need. Proceeds from the Hike for Hospice will fund palliative care for terminal patients, counselling for relatives and education, while funds raised in the Run for Change will go for conservation and education. The UNICEF Charity Run will help with AIDS prevention and treatment of families and children in developing countries.

SHKP will organize its sixth SHKP Vertical Run for Charity this year to raise funds for local child and youth services. Its staff teams have beat out over 40 other teams to win the corporate relay for the last two years. The company will also sponsor the annual Hong Kong Cyclothon in the spirit of exercise for good.
