Sun Hung Kai Properties’ MOKO wins four industry awards for architecture and customer service

2017-01-03

The MOKO under Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited has seen a vast transformation into a retail hotspot since a revamp in August 2015, winning four industry awards from The International Council of Shopping Centers and Hong Kong Retail Management Association for design, promotions and premium customer service - the latest testaments to the mall’s excellent reputation.

Asia Pacific Shopping Center Awards

Extensive glass curtain walls give the renovated MOKO a more spacious ambience and let in generous sunlight, complementing the soft interior light and modern décor to offer a welcoming space for shoppers and diners.  Art helps give the mall a chic, refreshing vibe with atrium lighting by noted designer Tim Van Steenbergen creatively manipulating hues and shadows.  The International Council of Shopping Centers recognized MOKO’s special allure in the district with a gold 2016 Asia Pacific Shopping Center Award for Renovations / Expansions.

The International Council of Shopping Centers was set up in 1957 and introduced the Asia Pacific Shopping Center Awards in 2007 to recognize malls in the region for excellent marketing, design and development.

Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Customer Service Award

The Hong Kong Retail Management Association gives out Customer Service Awards as part of the Hong Kong Awards for Industries to recognize companies with exceptional performance and service.  MOKO has always aimed to make shoppers feel at home and runs a variety of comprehensive training courses to ensure attentive, professional care from staff.  This dedication to customer service was ranked ahead of its competitors in assessments by a panel of judges and mystery shoppers to win a Customer Service Award in 2016 Hong Kong Awards for Industries.

Service & Courtesy Award

MOKO staff were also singled out for praise.  Four members of its customer service team made it to the final round of the Hong Kong Retail Management Association 2016 Service & Courtesy Award, where Manny Lo won in the Supervisory Level Retail (Services) – Life & Entertainment/ Wedding Category.

MOKO additionally won a silver Best Service Outlet Award with its same-day delivery service, the first among malls in Hong Kong.  Customers can take their purchases to a designated pick-up point at the mall and staff will help load the shopping onto a specially arranged van for delivery.

The Hong Kong Retail Management Association started the Service & Courtesy Award in 1986 and they are now regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the retail sector.  The awards recognize outstanding efforts by frontline staff and aim to raise retail service standards in Hong Kong to boost competitiveness.

MOKO General Manager Raymond Chan said: “Taking part in competitions builds rapport within the team and fosters a culture to serve.  We will continue striving for perfection in the mall and offer diverse value-added service for a delightful shopping experience.”
