Kai Shing Management Services was the only property management company to win an Environmental Performance award in the Business Environment Council's Hong Kong Awards for Industries for its outstanding performance in environmental protection. Kai Shing is a subsidiary of Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP).

The awards are highly regarded. A panel of judges made up of leaders in the business sector and green experts rate candidates on commitment to environmental protection, waste reduction and energy efficiency and compliance with environmental legislation. The awards are meant to encourage environmental excellence.

Kai Shing practices environmentally-friendly property management in keeping with SHKP’s green policy. It has had clear green strategy for many years and follows environmental legislation to the letter. It makes environmental protection and corporate social responsibility key elements of property management. The company has green management systems in place and encourages green office procedures and carbon reduction, at the same time as it promotes environmental awareness. Its efforts were highly praised by the judges.

Kai Shing issued its Environmental Policy Statement in 1996, saying it would continuously promote green property management. Green initiatives in some of the estates it manages won high recognition when it became the first property management company in Hong Kong to gain ISO14001 environmental management system certification from the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency.

Kai Shing constantly reviews its strategies in light of evolving green technology and community needs. Its central recycling system introduced in 2000 collects waste from all its residential and retail properties, and Kai Shing works to minimize pollution in various ways. The company will strive even harder in future to offer green living environments and promote ecological awareness in the properties it manages.
