The ION Orchard mall in Sun Hung Kai Properties’ Orchard Turn joint-venture in Singapore has been named the best shopping centre in Asia by MIPIM Asia. ION Orchard has become the new retail and entertainment hotspot in Singapore since it opened in October this year with its distinctive design and international tenant mix.

Widely recognized in the industry

The annual MIPIM Asia awards recognize real estate projects in the Asia-Pacific region for innovation, technology, environmental features and quality. The judges are top professionals in the real estate, architecture and financial sectors. There were 104 nominees from 15 countries this year and 24 projects were shortlisted in categories including business centres, green buildings, hotels and resorts, mixed-use buildings, residential developments and shopping centres, etc.

Modern design

ION Orchard located in Orchard Road shopping district is Asia’ top mall. Its high-tech design by leading firm Benoy has media architecture wrapping the façade creating special visual effects. ION Square is a sheltered public square for large events, gatherings and celebrations. ION Sky will open at the end of 2010 to provide viewpoint giving a commanding 360-degree view of the city from the highest point in this prime spot. ION Art is an event space dedicated to contemporary art and design. These will bring to customers unprecedented shopping experience.

ION Orchard houses a collection of international flagship and concept stores of both established and new-to-market brands covering the spectrum of fashion, lifestyle, entertainment and food and beverages. Levels 1 to 4 mall are dedicated to luxury brands and levels B1 to B4 offer popular and high-street labels, bridge fashions brands and lifestyle shops.
