Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) believes strongly in green living and makes comprehensive environmental protection measures an integral part of its developments. Companies in the SHKP group including Kai Shing Management Services and the Hong Yip Service Company won numerous awards for Environmental Excellence from an amalgam of 11 Hong Kong government entities and business organizations. Park Island won a gold award for property management, presented by Chief Executive Donald Tsang. Other winners received awards from the Secretary for the Environment Edward Yau.
Awards for Kai Shing, Hong Yip and Sanfield
The awards were given out by the Environmental Campaign Committee, Business Environment Council, Advisory Council on the Environment, Environmental Protection Department and various chambers of commerce. They considered 366 candidates in a two-step evaluation process. Park Island took the top honour for property management at with its effective energy plan, solid waste management and promotion of green awareness. Grand Century Place, Metroplaza, The Leighton Hill, Noble Hill, Park Central, Parcville and Woodland Crest got merit awards for property management, and Sanfield Constructions won a merit award in the construction category. SHKP took more awards than any other developer.
Support for Earth Hour
SHKP has long been committed to the environment. It has been a Double Diamond member of the WWF for two years, and this year over 70 SHKP buildings took part in Earth Hour. Landmarks such as Sun Hung Kai Centre, IFC, Central Plaza, APM and more switched off lights to show concern about global warming.
