Park Island saves a million kWh of power a year and promotes green living

23 January 2009

Sun Hung Kai Properties is committed to offering residents a good living environment, and it incorporates energy-efficient features in its developments in the interests of green property management. Its Park Island residential development has a wide array of innovative green features that save a million kWh of electricity annually. The estate recently beat 600 developments to be named the most energy-efficient residential estate in Hong Kong in the Friends of the Earth's third Power Smart contest.

Innovative energy-efficiency measures

Kai Shing Management Services runs Park Island. Kai Shing worked with an energy-efficiency consultant over the past year to devise a comprehensive power-saving scheme for Park Island. The estate replaced lights with energy-efficient bulbs and lowered electrical voltage by 10% from 220 to 190 volts. Teamwork in the estate and innovative measures produced significant results and Park Island achieved a 10% reduction in power consumption.

Residents' support

Kai Shing worked closely with the incorporated owners on the energy-saving scheme and told residents the reason and goal of the campaign. There was tremendous support from residents and staff, contributing to the good results.

Sun Hung Kai Properties is committed to offering the finest developments and premium living environments for the people of Hong Kong.
