ICC wins Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat Performance Award
International Commerce Centre (ICC) developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) received a 2014 Performance Award from the US Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat in Chicago. The Council is an authoritative organization that specializes in research on tall buildings around the globe and it collaborates with the Illinois Institute of Technology to select skyscrapers for recognition every year. The new Performance Award signifies their endorsement of ICC’s achievements.
First-class building management
The Performance Award recognizes the accomplishments of enhancing a building’s operational efficiency to the fullest while minimizing its environmental impact. Assessment criteria include business continuity, environmental achievement, energy use and improvement initiatives, energy innovation, use of natural resources and carbon-footprint offsetting. Professional management, advanced technology, proactive engagement with tenants and a quest for excellence earned ICC recognition in the awards as ranking ahead of major skyscrapers around the world.
Achievements for energy management and business continuity
The integrated ICC complex is administered by Kai Shing Management Services Limited. The building has advanced facilities and an energy-management system to monitor and optimize energy consumption. The management team implemented an energy-saving plan with tenants that has helped save more than ten million kilowatt hours to date. ICC was the first commercial building to receive ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems certification in 2011 and ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management Systems certification in 2013 from the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, which show it offers a premium operating environment for international tenants. ICC was also rated the greenest in 2011 and won a gold medal in the 2013 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence. The latest Tall Building Council Performance Award is additional recognition of ICC’s exceptional service.
