Over 200 SHKP developments in global lights-out campaign
Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) places great emphasis on environmental protection and practises green management in its extensive property portfolio. SHKP supported the global Earth Hour for a third year with over 200 developments taking part, including Hong Kong’s tallest building International Commerce Centre (ICC). SHKP again had one of the highest participation rates among developers.
ICC has a provisional BEAM platinum rating for green building technology and design. It stages events to enhance tenants’ awareness of environmental issues and enlisted their cooperation in switching off the lights for one hour last weekend in support of the WWF Earth Hour. Other SHKP developments that participated included Sun Hung Kai Centre, International Finance Centre, Central Plaza, APM, Grand Century Place, WTC More, Royal Peninsula and Park Island.
SHKP supports sustainable development and includes environmental considerations in planning, design, material sourcing, construction and landscaping to save energy and reduce waste. Over 100 SHKP developments have completed or are in the process of completing carbon audits. Recharge facilities for electric vehicles are available in some SHKP developments to encourage green driving, and the company continues to spread an environmental message through activities with green groups for employees, residents and tenants.
