Green Valley Landfill

Green Valley Landfill Limited

Green Valley Landfill designed, built, operates and is responsible for the long-term aftercare of the South East New Territories landfill, which has been in operation since September 1994. It occupies a 100-hectare site with a capacity of 43 million cubic metres and can handle 10,000 tonnes of refuse each day. The landfill processes municipal, construction and chemical waste, and it is the only landfill in Hong Kong capable of treating industrial and stabilized chemical waste. Sophisticated technology is employed to minimize the environmental impact of the refuse, with an on-site bio-gas plant to convert gas generated at the site into useable energy.
