SHKP gives rice dumplings to spread Dragon Boat Festival cheer

2012-06-20

The Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) Volunteer Team delivered rice dumplings and fresh fruit to the underprivileged to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, with Executive Directors Mike Wong and Victor Lui visiting needy seniors to bring cheer.  SHKP puts on many charitable and festive events as part of its Building Homes with Heart Caring Initiative for the community.

Special rice dumplings

SHKP worked with social welfare groups to distribute nearly 3,500 rice dumplings to seniors who live alone or are homeless, people with intellectual disabilities and low-income families in Ma On Shan, Aberdeen and Sham Shui Po, following a previous lunch and lucky bag giveaways at Chinese New Year.  Volunteers helped make the dumplings, visited the elderly with festive presents and chatted with them.

Festive celebrations for SHKP retirees

The SHKP Evergreen Club also arranged a gathering for retired staff before the Dragon Boat Festival, with more rice dumplings.  SHKP cares for its staff and their wellbeing after they retire, and the club was set up to maintain ties with them through activities like trips, get-togethers and workshops.
